"Through an unlikely turn of events spanning over 25 years, a custom-built 1995 Western Star truck can serve her driver again, albeit in a very unusual way. Instead of delivering heavy loads across the country, she now stands as a symbol of restored health alongside her original owner, who, like this truck, had seen better days. Their incredible story tells how both man and machine suffered the effects of years of abuse and neglect, and how each was nearing the end of their journey.
The story recounts the events of this 25-year relationship between a man and his truck. The joyous day he picked her up at the factory, the sorrowful day she was sold off because of a war industry, and how through what some might call “divine intervention,” they were reunited through an act of charity. But for what purpose? As exciting as it was to have his truck back, she had been seriously neglected, torn down, and broken, and was in no condition to drive. What, then was the reason for her return?
What purpose could she serve in her current state?
Then one day, it became clear she had been reunited with her original owner to become a symbol of hope in an industry that desperately needed it. Her transformation from a neglected wreck back to her original health and beauty would be chronicled and displayed throughout the country. Her restoration would be something drivers could relate to, tangible and inspiring. Her purpose now would be to serve as the ambassador of health to the trucking industry.
Our 2025 Informational Program Tour needs your help to put Barry and his beloved Western Star back on the road to deliver their message of health to drivers everywhere. We have the parts but not the funding.
Their message is simple: Man and machine are not so different after all. Even after years of abuse and neglect, health can be restored. Just as an engine and this truck can be rebuilt, so can the body.
Help us save lives and careers by supporting our 2025 Vision to Health program.
